Seeing Clearly: All about Eye Glasses and Contact Lenses

The use for reading glasses is often associated with age. If you are getting old, you might start needing one, so often times, people stay away from it. If you are holding the newspaper at arm’s length to be able to read it, that is a sign that you should start getting your own pair of reading glasses. But most people would cringe at even the thought of it. Contact lenses have become very popular because of this. People who are more self-conscious prefer to wear contact lenses because they believe that reading glasses and eye glasses make them look old.

Eye Glasses

There are so many advantages to wearing reading glasses, however. Once you get past the fact that it can alter the way you look, a good pair of glasses can help you perform better at work. They come in two main designs. They have those with full frames and those that only have frames on the upper part of the lenses. There is a specific style, called the Franklin glasses that are worn lower down on the nose. Nowadays, reading glasses can be custom-made too. Of course, normally, people buy it ready made but for more capricious clients, there is an option to have the glasses to be made especially the way they like.

Contact Lenses

However, reading glasses are still safer. Being that they do not need contact with the eye, it cannot harm them or irritate them like contact lenses can. There are no rules to follow; there is no maintenance regimen to be familiar with. You wear it, you remove it, there is no right or wrong.

Also, reading glasses may be more expensive but you only buy it once. Contact lenses need to be replaced every three months and so it ends up being more expensive than a good pair of glasses. And given that there are a lot of styles for eye wear now out in the market, choosing the right pair for you is no longer dreadful, but in fact it could be very much enjoyable.
